It was sunny outside and roasting (95°) on Poolside, Joe Burns forgot his jammers, Kevin got a soaking from a fast turning Jake Simm and Louis Kivi made a fine debut for the team as a replacement for Peter Hill - have a speedy recovery Peter.

Jessica Deeley was Prescot's headliner at the COLSC Splash n
Dash meet, taking 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze in the 4 50m events. Emma Farrugia weighed in with a Gold in the 50m Backstroke and Beth Dowding and Finley Hampson got a Silver medal apiece. Many of the younger swimmers had not swum in the 50m pool at Wavertree before and all swam well with a fair smattering of PBs between them. It was a good event and hopefully we get more swimmers there next year. |

Alex Dunk and James Pout raced at the North Zonal Championship held in
Sheffield, over the weekend. A tough competition schedule meant heats and finals
in two morning sessions, followed by further heats and finals in the afternoons.
James continues his road back to fitness and raced well in his 50m sprint
events, backing them up with both a 100m and 200m Butterfly. This has been a
challenging year for James as he is still recovering from surgery, but his swims
were both competitive and his performances to be admired. He brings home a Gold
medal for Top British Disability Points.
Alex raced in several freestyle events and one backstroke. Alex was pleased with
his weekend, racing through heats and qualifying for all five finals. He
produced personal best times in the 400m and 1500m, and won 4 Gold Medals in the
200m, 400m, 1500m Free and the 400m IM.
Well Done James and Alex.
Last weekend saw some of our club and squad swimmers in action at the City of
Liverpool Winter long Course meet at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre in Wavertree.
Overall the club had 19 PBs and 11 medals from the weekend with the medal haul
being led by Cameron Dunk with 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze from 5 swims
followed closely by Neil Wylie with 3 Silvers from 4 Swims and Jessica
Deeley in her first long course gala getting a Silver and 2 Bronze from her
five swims . Finley Hampson completed the haul with a Bronze from his one
swim.
The level 1 meet saw some great swims from all our swimmers with them gaining some invaluable experience swimming against some of the top opposition in the North West with athletes coming from as far as Norway to compete. A special mention should go to Joe Burns (10) and Jessica Deeley (9) swimming in their first Level 1 meet in a 50m pool, both performed outstandingly well getting great PBs and medals to take home. Fine PBs were also recorded for Katherine Cheshire, Jake Simm, Chloe Middleham and Thomas Hughes with Daniel Cheshire who was struggling with a sore back still managing to pick up a PB and the 3rd place Fina Award for his Age Group. |
