Pool Rules

Attendance at Club has been increasing recently which we are pleased to see. All the Coaches look forward to taking the sessions, especially when they are busier. As a result of the lanes becoming busier, we are finding it even more important that the following points are remembered by everyone:

  1. Please be on poolside 5-10 minutes before the session starts, ready to swim – visited the toilet, swim costume on, hat on (essential for long hair), goggles / kit bag / inhaler & drink ready
  2. In these 5-10 minutes, swimmers are best warming up their arms – arm swings are best, and their legs – jogging on the spot is good
  3. Please ensure all swimmers have visited the toilet before the session starts so they can complete the whole session, all swimmers should be able to do 1 hour without a visit to the toilet.
  4. Full lengths to be swum – please ensure you finish each distance you are set by your coach – this means for full lengths starting from the wall and finishing at the speed instructed all the way to the wall. You will let yourself down in training if you do not finish the swim at the correct speed. For each 50m swam at speed, if you ease off the last 5m (under the flags), you are losing 10% of your training opportunity.
  5. Swimmers try to come along with a ‘can-do attitude’. Some of the exercises we ask you to do are tricky to master, but if you keep trying you’ll find it does get easier.
  6. If you are not able to make the session on time, please let your coach know the reason when you turn up so we can deliver the best session for you
If you can follow these points, it will help make the sessions enjoyable for everyone and much more effective.

Thank you
